The region of Explorer Country is located in the eastern portion of New South Wales, Australia. The region has a rich history that dates back to the early days of European colonization. The region was first explored by European settlers in the late 1700s when they ventured inland to find new land that could be used for farming and settlements. The area was primarily inhabited by the Wiradjuri people at this time.

In 1821, the first official European settlement was established in Bathurst, which is still the main settlement in Explorer Country to this day. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s, as a result of the gold rush that swept across New South Wales. Bathurst was a major center for mining and prospecting during this period, and many of the buildings and structures from this era can still be seen around the region.

One of the most notable events in the history of Explorer Country occurred in 1863 when the explorer Frederick Walker led an expedition into the area. During his journey, Walker discovered a new route through the Blue Mountains, which enabled settlers to reach the west coast of the country. The discovery of this new route helped to open up the region for farming and mining, and ensured that Bathurst would continue to grow and prosper for generations to come.

Throughout the 20th century, Explorer Country continued to thrive, as the region became a major center for agriculture and industry. The town of Orange, which is located in the north of the region, became famous for its fruit orchards and wineries. The city of Lithgow, which is situated in the south of the region, became a major center for coal mining and heavy industry.

Today, Explorer Country is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its rich history and scenic beauty. Visitors to the region can explore the many historic sites and museums that are located throughout the area, including the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, the Lithgow Living History Museum, and the Orange Regional Gallery. Visitors can also hike or bike through the many scenic parks and nature reserves that are located in the region, including the Blue Mountains National Park, Wollemi National Park, and Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve.

In conclusion, the region of Explorer Country has a rich and fascinating history that spans back thousands of years. From its early days as a Wiradjuri settlement, to its role as a major center for mining and industry in the 19th and 20th centuries, to its current status as a popular tourist destination, Explorer Country has played an important role in the history and development of New South Wales and Australia as a whole.
